It’s used when informing something right before it happens. So you don’t wanna overuse it.

the last-minute notice 「最後の瞬間の告知」 ということで、直前に何かを知らせるときの言い方です。

I hope things settle down for you soon.
things 物事全般をさしています。 settle down 「解決する」

What are some other ways to express that?
Jenny:
Well, using ‘calm down’ you could also say, I hope things calm down for you before long.
柴田:
Sounds like there are few problems/

calm down 「落ち着く」、 before long は 「そのうち、やがて」
相手に寄り添ったメールです。 メール全体に相手に対する思いやりが感じられます。
このようなときは、パーソナルタッチをたっぷり盛り込みましょう。
