What is your favorite food these days?

My favorite food has to be teishoku. The best teishoku that I had was at Kudakajima in Okinawa. That’s the one that got me hooked. The teishoku included sashimi with umi budou, different types of tsukemono, tempura and jimami tofu, etc.
There were light, fresh flavors and a variety of textures! It made me ask my meal, “Where have you been, all my life?”

I was an active child. My favorite activity was climbing trees. I liked to climb to the highest branch that could hold me, not only to see how far I could push myself, but also to escape into the world at the tree top.
