US tech firm OpenAI says it has agreed to reinstate Sam Altman as its CEO less than a week after the board fired him. The company is behind the widely popular artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT.
米国のハイテク企業オープンAIは、サム・アルトマン氏を取締役会が解任してから1週間も経たないうちにCEOとして復帰することで合意したと発表した。同社は、広く普及している人工知能チャットボット ChatGPT を開発しています。

OpenAI made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday. It refers to a new “initial board” of three directors who are working out the details.
OpenAIは火曜日にX（旧Twitter）上で発表を行った。これは、詳細を詰めている3人の取締役からなる新しい「初期取締役会」を指します。

Media reports speculate that there was a conflict between Altman’s drive to quickly expand AI services and a focus on safety by other board members.
メディアの報道では、AIサービスを迅速に拡大したいというアルトマン氏の意欲と、他の取締役による安全性重視との間に矛盾があったのではないかと推測されている。

Altman was dismissed Friday and by Sunday OpenAI’s biggest shareholder, Microsoft, announced it was planning to hire him. Almost all of OpenAI’s about 770 employees signed a letter threatening to quit and demanding that the board reinstate Altman then resign themselves.
アルトマン氏は金曜日に解雇され、日曜日までにOpenAIの筆頭株主であるマイクロソフトは同氏を雇用する計画を発表した。 OpenAIの約770人の従業員のほぼ全員が、辞任を脅迫し、取締役会がアルトマン氏を復職させてから自ら辞任するよう要求する書簡に署名した。

Altman took to social media to express his dedication to the team, writing “I love openAI”. He says he is “looking forward to returning” and “building on our strong partnership with Microsoft”.

アルトマン氏はソーシャルメディアに「私はopenAIが大好きです」と書き、チームへの献身を表明した。同氏は「戻ってくることを楽しみにしている」と述べ、「マイクロソフトとの強力なパートナーシップを築いていく」としている。
