インド有数のビジネス都市ムンバイ
インド西海岸に位置するムンバイはかつてボンベイと呼ばれ、18世紀から19世紀にかけて造船業と貿易の拠点でした。 「ムンバイ」 という地名の発音のアクセントにはいくつかバリエーションがあるようです。
(Located on the west coast of India, Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, was a hub for shipbuilding and trade in the 18th and 19th centuries. There seem to be several variations in the pronunciation of the place name “Mumbai”.)
20世紀以降は商業が急速に発展して、今では多くの金融機関や多国籍企業が集まるインド経済の中心地になっています。 高収入の人も多く暮らし、 若者にも人気の就職先が集まる都市です。 ビジネスの共通言語はもちろん英語。
(Since the 20th century, commerce has developed rapidly, and today it is the center of the Indian economy, home to many financial institutions and multinational companies.
