「80年代 (the eighties)」 というジャンル
「80年代」 と聞いてピンときますか? 単純すぎるかもしれませんが、音楽でいうと50年代はエルビス・プレスリーに代表されるロックンロール、 60年代はボブ・ディランのようなフォークシンガーやシンガーソングライターが活躍した時代。 70年代はディスコミュージックが人気でした。 80年代と聞いて僕がパッと思い浮かぶのはノルウェーのポップバンド、 a-ha (アーハ) です。 エレクトリックな曲調の代表作 「Take on Me」 は、 曲自体はもちろん、プロモーションビデオがアメリカでも大ヒットしました。
(Does the term “80s” ring a bell? It may be too simple, but in terms of music, the 50’s was the era of rock and roll represented by Elvis Presley, the 60’s was the era of folk singers and singer-songwriters such as Bob Dylan, and the 70’s was the era of disco music. Disco music was popular in the 70s. When I hear the word “80s,” I immediately think of the Norwegian pop band a-ha. Their electric song “Take on Me” was a huge hit in the U.S., not only for the song itself, but also for the promotional video. The 80’s is a genre not only in music, but also in fashion and movies. I love eighties music, especially rock. One of my favorite artists is Bon Jovi. Although I’m not sure if it’s from the eighties, I grew up listening to ABBA.
