hostile もう少し広い意味で、実際の暴力が伴わなくても使える言葉なんです。

And hostile also comes up in this pattern. A be hostile to, or towards B, which means that A is opposed to B, or C’s be as an enemy. Here’s an example. Some people are hostile to the idea of social media. (ソーシャルメディアという考え方に敵意を抱く人もいる。)
