その中から4つ選んでご紹介します。

gold mine 金の鉱山、金鉱
gold mine は、比喩的に宝庫という意味もある
a gold mine of information 知識の宝庫
2). metal 金属
Most metals can be recycled over and over.
ほとんどの金属は何度もリサイクルできます
一般的に金属を指す時の medal は、不可算名詞 uncountable noun
でも、鉄や金などいろいろな金属を言う場合は 可算名詞 countable noun,
medalsと複数形に plural

今回は、startup 以外の起業にまつわる単語をご紹介します。
1). funding 資金、資金提供
I’m going to need a lot of funding for my startup.
私のスタートアップには多額の資金が必要になりそうだ
fund 名詞noun 資金、基金 verb動詞で、資金を出す」そのfund ＋ ing を付けて
資金を出すこと、資金提供」です。
最近よく聞くクラウドファンディングは、このfundingですね。

2). initial 初めの、初期の
Getting funding is an important step for a startup in its initial stage.
資金の確保は初期段階のスタートアップにとって大事なステップです
initial は、形容詞 adjectiveで、名詞noun の前に置いて使います。
be動詞be-verb の後ろには置けないので、注意。
初めの first に似ていますね。場合によっては、置き換えられることもありますが、first は、最初の」で、Initial は、「初めの方の」

予測にまつわる単語をご紹介します。
1). prediction 予測、予報、予言
The expert said he could make any predictions about the election results.
その専門家は選挙結果については何の予測もできない、と言いました
pre 「前、前に」 + dict 言う」という言葉から来ていると + tion 名詞nounにする。
合わせると、「前もって言う事」つまい、予測、予想
make a prediction 予想する、予測する
2). presumably 推定されるように
Presumably, he’ll be in the hospital for a month or so.
恐らく、彼は1ヶ月ほど入院するだろう
presume 動詞verb 推定する + able 〜できる + ly 副詞adverb
推定できるように、つまり、「おそらく、たぶん」と言う事ですね。
Yes 「たぶん」と言う事は、probably を思い起こす人も多いと思いますが、presumably は probablyより固いイメージがあります。
また、論理的に考えて確率が高いというニュアンスnuanceです。

思わず踊りたくなるようなインド映画の特徴を表す単語をご紹介します。
1). extravagant とても派手な、豪華な
Bollywood movies often feature extravagant sets and costumes.
ボリウッド映画では豪華なセットや衣装がよく使われます
extra 外の、範囲外の を意味する言葉 + vagant の部分「放浪する」を意味する言葉から来ているとされています。
「普通とされる範囲の外に出るような」というイメージから、「浪費する 贅沢な とても派手な」 というような意味になる。(From the image of “going outside the bounds of what is considered normal”, it has the meaning of “extravagant, extravagant, very flashy”.)
ちょっとネガティブに聞こえますね。
そういう場合もあるのですが、エンターテイメントやデザインについて凝った、豪華なというニュアンスでnuanceで使われることもあります。

森にまつわる単語
1). conifer 針葉樹 [kóunəfər]
Pine trees are common conifer in Japan.
松は日本では一般的な針葉樹です
con は、 cone 円錐を意味する言葉から来ているとされています。
松ぼっくりのような円錐の形をした種子ができる樹木というニュアンスです。
coniferは思い出せない時は、tree with needles 針のある木」と表現してもいいかも知れません
2). deciduous 落葉性の [disídʒuəs]
When the leaves start returning to deciduous trees, you know spring has arrived. 落葉樹に葉が戻り始めると、春の到来を感じます
de 下へ + ci 落ちる」を意味する言葉かあ来ているという説があります。
下に落ちるような、葉っぱが落ちるような→落葉性の
deciduous teeth 人の乳歯、落ちるような、つまり抜けるような歯ですね。
