Christmas は家族と過ごして、 New Year’s は友だちや恋人と過ごす人が多いです。
(Many people spend Christmas with their families, and New Year’s with friends and loved ones.)
特に12月31日は、大人たちが街に集まって、シャンパンを開けて、 はでにパーティーをしているイメージです。 そして1月1日の午後からは、いつもどおり会社に行く人が多いです。
(Especially on December 31st, I imagine adults gathering in the streets, popping champagne, and having a big party. From the afternoon of January 1st, many people go to work as usual.)
