文字どおりには 「あなたに尋ねさせてください」という意味で、相手に質問する前に、 心の準備をさせたり許可を得たりするために使われます。 テルマは自分のキャリアや仕事について真剣に考えていて、エミリーの意見や感情を知りたい、というキモチで使っています。(Literally means “Let me ask you a question,” and is used to prepare someone mentally or ask for permission before asking a question.
