3 STUDENTS OF PALESTINIAN DESCENT SHOT IN VERMONT

Three Palestinian college students have been shot on the street in the eastern U.S. state of Vermont. The gunman remains at large. Local authorities are investigating it as a possible hate crime.
Police say the suspect fired at least four shots without speaking, wounding all three men on Saturday afternoon in Burlington. They say the victims have been treated at a hospital and that two are in stable condition and one has serious injuries.
They were reportedly visiting the home of one victim’s relatives in Burlington for the Thanksgiving holiday. Two were wearing a keffiyeh, the traditional Palestinian scarf.
Since Israel and Hamas began fighting last month, the U.S. has been hit by a series of incidents that appear to be hate crimes.

アメリカ東部バーモント州の路上でパレスチナ人の大学生３人が銃撃された。犯人は逃走中だ。地元当局は憎悪犯罪の可能性があるとして捜査を進めている。
警察によると、土曜午後バーリントンで容疑者は無言で少なくとも４発発砲し、３人全員が負傷した。被害者らは病院で治療を受けており、２人の容体は安定しており、１人は重傷を負っているという。

JAPAN SENDS MINE DETECTORS TO UKRAINE

The Japanese government has sent equipment to remove landmines to Ukraine. The Russian military has placed the explosives across the country since the invasion began.
The handover ceremony was held at a square in front of the St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. Ukrainian officials were joined by Japan’s ambassador to Ukraine and the state minister for foreign affairs.
Fifty mine detectors and 40 vehicles that’ll be used by the mine removal unit were displayed. The Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JICA, was involved in supplying them.

“This assistance is extremely important for us, for our work. After all, it allows us to do our job effectively and accurately.”
Japan also plans to give Ukraine an eco-friendly fire extinguishing agent to counter Russian attacks.

日本政府は地雷を除去するための機材をウクライナに送った。ロシア軍は侵攻が始まって以来、国内各地に爆発物を設置した。
引き渡し式はキエフの聖ソフィア大聖堂前の広場で行われた。ウクライナ当局者には、日本の駐ウクライナ大使と外務副大臣も参加した。
地雷探知機５０台と地雷除去部隊で使用する車両４０台が展示された。国際協力機構（JICA）が供給に携わった。

ChatGPT CEO SEES JAPAN AS NEW BUSINESS LEADER

People around the world are experimenting with the promise of artificial intelligence. The CEO of the company that created ChatGPT has visited Japan. Sam Altman says the technology will reshape society.
ChatGPT can create texts that read almost as naturally as if they were written by a human.
The AI technology opens up various possibilities, depending on how it’s used.
But a number of countries say they’re concerned ChatGPT will have a negative impact on education and poses a risk to users’ personal information.
Altman says there’s a need to continue discussions on AI to check for possible problems.

“Most technologies have both tremendous upside and significant downside. I believe that these tools are going to enhance our creativity, not replace it.”
He indicated that more regulations will be needed as AI becomes more developed.
