エミリーが読み終えたばかりの最新ミステリー小説をテルマに貸してあげようとしますが、 テルマは断ります。 「ふだんはノンフィクションを好んで読んでいる」ということを伝えるために、 I tend to… と言っています。 I tend to… は、自分の傾向や癖、好みを他人に伝える際に使います。 テルマは新年の抱負で自己啓発をすることに決め、それに合った読書をするようになった、ということからこの表現を使っています。
