What is the social status of journalists like in Sri Lanka?

influential 影響力のある
To have influence over someone or something, meaning to have an effect on an idea, decision or conclusion, having sway or being convincing without power or authority. Ms. Kakuchi mentioned that journalists are very influential in Sri Lanka, meaning that they can be very persuasive
because they are trusted.(誰かまたは何かに対して影響力を持つこと。つまり、アイデア、決定、結論に影響を与え、権力や権威がなくても影響力を持ったり、説得力を持ったりすることを意味します。 カクチ氏は、スリランカではジャーナリストの影響力が非常に大きい、つまり、ジャーナリストは非常に説得力があると述べました。彼らは信頼されているからです。)

A literacy rate is the percentage of a group of people in a defined age range who can read and write sufficiently.

struggle 格闘、苦労
To struggle as a verb, is to have a hard time with something, experienced difficulty and overcoming something or make efforts to achieve something difficult. A struggle as a noun, refers to the difficulties being faced. Ms. Kakuchi describes being a journalist in Sri Lanka as a struggle due to low pay meaning that they face difficult challenges.
