Michael’s special lesson マイケルの特別レッスン

このコーナーでは、まず「今月の問題」を解いてもらい、マイケル先生が解説をします。
最後に再び「チャレンジ問題」を解いてもらい、理解できているかを確認します。
小学3年生から英語を習っているサクラさんとソウタくんも手伝ってくれます。
(In this corner, students will first solve this month’s problem, and Michael will give an explanation.
At the end, have the students solve the “challenge problem” again to check if they have understood.
Sakura-san and Souta-kun, who have been learning English since third grade, also help out.)

マイケル先生: Michael
今年1年はどんな年でしたか? 中学生になった人は、クラスや部活動で新しい友だちができたと思います。自分が思ったとおりにいかなかった人もいるかもしれないけど、気持ちは前向きに!
(What was this year like for you? If you are a junior high school student, you probably made new friends in your classes and club activities. There may be some people who didn’t go as they expected, but stay positive!)

ソウタ: Sota
ぼくは大みそかが大好きです。家族でゲームをしたり、テレビを見たり、そばを食べたり。家の近くにお寺があり、除夜の鐘が聞こえてきます。寒くなければ、家族でお寺に行きたいと思っています。
(I love New Year’s Eve. Play games, watch TV, and eat soba with your family. There is a temple near my house, and I can hear the New Year’s Eve bell. If it’s not too cold, I would like to go to a temple with my family.)

サクラ: Sakura
冬は家族でよく温泉に行きます。温泉は辞書で調べると hot spring でした。 hot と springをさらに調べたら、 hot が「熱い」、 spring が「泉、わき水」という意味でした。日本語の「温泉」と同じような名前のつけ方ですね。
(My family and I often go to hot springs in winter. When I looked up hot spring in the dictionary, it was “hot spring”. When I looked into the words “hot” and “spring” further, I found out that “hot” means “hot” and “spring” means “spring water.” The name is similar to the Japanese word for “hot spring.”)
