レナード・スラットキン
アメリカ出身の世界的指揮者。 ジュリアード音楽院で指揮法を学ぶ。 デトロイト交響楽団、フランス国立リヨン管弦楽団およびセントルイス交響楽団の音楽監督を歴任。現在はグラン・カナリア・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団の首席客演指揮者を務めるほか、 NHK交響楽団など数多くのオーケストラに客演。 作曲家、著述家、教育者としても活躍している。 6度のグラミー賞、 アメリカ政府からの国民芸術勲章、 フランス政府からの芸術文化勲章シュヴァリエなど、いくつもの賞を受賞。
(A world-famous American conductor. He studied conducting at the Juilliard School. He has been music director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Orchester National de Lyon and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. He is currently the Principal Guest Conductor of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed as a guest with numerous orchestras, including the NHK Symphony Orchestra. He is also active as a composer, author and educator. He has received several awards, including six Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Arts from the US government, and Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French government.)
